Waterproof cameras...what a fun time.

Fresh Flowers on a Winter Day

My first fibers project, how sweet! I created this garden through various techniques in the general fibers umbrella. The story behind it was just to create this burst of life and color in the courtyard of the fibers building during winter finals week when everyone was stressed and cold. I ended up using all the flowers for my Christmas tree ornaments which was even more beautiful than the garden! Unfortunately I think my old roomate took them. :(

Hungry Hungry Hippies

A few months ago I came across 2 young men I dubbed the hungry hungry hippies. They were 2 art students who started their VW bus expedition in Los Angeles and drove across the country where I met them in lil' ole Savannah. We chatted for a while about life and art and I ended up having them over for a home cooked southern meal which they were absolutley exstatic about. I gave them a dancing bear sticker for their bus and said goodbye, exchanging email addresses. They sent me these pictures the other day that really put a smile on my face. I find myself really interested in the idea of collecting something, in this case stickers, to chronicle a journey.

Flora

I spent a while looking at those, then I came up with this repeat pattern and colorways and coordinates.

The pattern was painted using gouache paint which I find gives the most flat color, however it is a little more difficult to work with. The intended use for this pattern would be interiors, possible a duvet cover with the coordinates as the sheets and pillows. This is probably my favorite hand drawn pattern I have produced.
